- The first Royal Enfield motorcycle was built in 1901 by The Enfield Cycle Company of Red ditch, Worcestershire, England, which was responsible for the design and original production of the Royal Enfield Bullet, the longest-lived motorcycle design in history. RE is an Indian multinational motorcycle manufacturing company, headquartered in Chennai. The Royal Enfield brand, including its original English heritage, is the oldest global motorcycle brand in continuous production. A year and a half back, Royal Enfield Company was working on a new model called the Royal Enfield Scram 440. It’s internally codenamed was D4K, this project is now ready and has been revealed at the 2024 Moto verse festival.
- Royal Enfield Scram 440 is a bike available in 2 variants and 5 colors. The Royal Enfield Scram 440 is powered by 443cc BS6 engine which develops a power of 25.4 bhp and a torque of 34 Nm. With both front and rear disc brakes, Royal Enfield Scram 440 comes up with anti-locking braking system. This Scram 440 bike weighs 196 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 15 liters.
Royal Enfield Scram 440 Engine:
- The most important upgrade in the RE Scram 440 compared to the Scram 411 is its bigger 443 cc engine. The new LS 440 powertrain offers better performance, producing 4.5 per cent more power, now churning out 25.4 bhp at 6,250 rpm. Torque has also gone up by 6.5 per cent, peaking at 34 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The new and refined valvetrain is also said to be designed to reduce engine noise, thus giving a smoother ride.
- Besides the larger engine, the Scram 440 introduces a 6-speed transmission, which allows lower revs when cruising on highways, thus keeping vibrations down and improving the fuel efficiency. The final drive ratio has been optimized for better tractability, thus improving the general control. There is also a new pull-type clutch for improved durability and reduction of lever effort by a claimed 0.75 kg.
